Cooped up in my apartment, on the verge of graduating in the middle of the pandemic, I was anxious and uncertain about the future. Was it the right decision to move to the United States for my Master’s degree? What if this doesn’t pay off? How to get a job in America?? On Sunday, we visited @lastbookstorela in #downtow

On Sunday, we visited @lastbookstorela in #downtown #losangeles on our way to @drafthousela for a screening of the extraordinary #poorthings. It was an #adventurous afternoon. Parking was tricky, as it is with most downtown visits, but my wife navigated it like a champ. We walked through a couple of sketchy streets. A stranger (looked like might have been on drugs) blocked my walk and looked me right in the eye like a boxing opponent, then smiled and let me pass. The #bookstore itself was quite wonderful and so I’ve made it the subject of this reel 😊
I particularly enjoyed the $1 book section (called The Last Wall).
The Alamo Drafthouse was pretty cool too, with food (pizzas, burgers, salads) and drinks (beers included) served right to your theatre seat. I had thought this would prove to be intrusive and tarnish the cinema experience, but it did not. All in all - it was a memorable day in #downtownla 🍻
